Katie is interested in the processing-structure-property relationships of 3D printed ferrous alloys. Her research focuses on AM SS316L and how grain texture and porosity effect defect initiation in early stage spall. She is also interested in low cost and robust metal 3D printing techniques which can be implemented in austere environments with minimal capital equipment costs. Currently she works with NASA as an NSTRF Fellow to design in-situ resource utilization solutions for metal 3D printing in Lunar environments.
